Many plot holders at all of our sites have expressed that they do not want to join a site committee but would welcome a more active site maintenance role.
It has therefore been agreed that each site will instead of a site committee have a site ‘care-taking’ team, composed of individuals who care for different aspects of the site and help to keep it in a good condition for us all to enjoy. Members of the care-taking teams will be consulted on all site matters and their opinions will inform decision making.
This is not a fundamental change to our constitution but merely a name change to reflect the nature of what we need at site level, especially at this challenging time when open-air conversations at a distance are the new norm in order to keep safe.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all those individuals who have given their time and effort this year to look after shared resources – such as cleaning the water butts, strimming spare plot edges, mowing grass, mending lawnmowers, painting sheds, straightening and weighting plastic covers on spare plots, light trimming of hedges and strimming of site ‘edges’.
